"Every morning you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them."To start I just want to say that this is how I go about living a relatively healthy lifestyle, i'm not a nutritionist or a PT by any stretch of the imagination it's just a few things I live by to help keep me on track!
Rule No. 1: Prepare!
I can't stress how important this is. Everyone has days where they slip back into bad habits (eating badly, skipping the gym etc) and mine tend to happen when i've neglected to prepare for the day ahead. I'm following a workout program which has massively helped my motivation with going to the gym.
Side note: The Kayla Itsines BBG guide is amazing! I'm really enjoying the workouts and the community that she has created. Check out her website and instagram.
Go to the gym.
Okay, so it's easier said than done but it's not impossible and it can very quickly become a habit. My body now craves a workout in the morning, it's really easy to get up at 6:30 now! Who'd have thought! Keeping your alarm far away from your bed should help to get you up and out of bed too, you'll have no choice but to get up and turn it off!
My top tip for getting yourself to the gym is to get up as soon as your alarm goes off and put your gym kit on, it's the best motivation there is.
It's very important to eat healthy and to eat well, this means not skipping meals and you'll have heard it a million times but have a good breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day, and my favourite!
Set yourself a goal.
If you really want to motivate yourself, set some goals. Losing weight, putting weight on, toning up or just getting fit. Whatever it may be, just set some goals. They work both ways, when you don't hit your goal you'll be motivated to try again and if you do hit it, you'll be motivated to try and do even better next time!
If you work during the week you've probably got a routine, wake up, go to work, dinner and sleep! But during the weekend it's really easy to deviate from this, getting up a lot later and not doing anything all day even once you've got up! But I can honestly tell you that Monday will just that much harder if you deviate too far from your routine.
Living a healthy lifestyle may seem really difficult and daunting but it should be fun, going to the gym can become a real hobby just make sure you're doing the right thing for you!
Ultimately, living a healthy lifestyle depends solely on how much you want it! If you're motivated enough to try hard and go get it you'll find it's a lot easier than it first seems!
